This is for you Indiana guys. What's the deal with civilian vehicles and BLUE overhead lights? I was travelling out of state recently and saw an everyday Joe driving a beat-up Ford F-150 with a full set of BLUE Whelen strobe lights on the roof of his truck. What gives with that?? If he would have kicked on those lights I'd have thought it was a cop! My Gawd, here in Michigan you'd get locked up with those lights on your roof.

Then a brand new white Ford truck got behind me and had Red & Green lights in the grille. What's green all about????

Don't know anything on the red 'n greens, but the volunteer water wasters use blue on their civvy vehicles to get to the firehouse. They arent supposed to violate any traffic or speed laws, but they tend to zip around pretty well.

Down here in Southern Indiana, even the funeral homes are allowed to run full red and blue racks with sirens, for funeral processions!!! It's strange seeing a '02 Caddy limo with a rack on it.....

Wholly mackerel!! Those are some zany laws.....red/blue + siren for a dead guy in a funeral? No offense but that's kinda stupid. Why cause people to panic and pull over for a funeral??

Some people still have enough respect for the dead to at least pull over or stop at an intersection for a funeral procession. Mostly just in small towns though. Forget it in the bigger areas, people there are a little impatient. I haven't seen any Blue/Reds on any hearses yet. The volunteer firemen use the blues. I don't know what Scott means by "waterwasters" but I've had some of them save my house and also helped me in a wreck or two. Guess you have to be paid to be a "real" fireman.

I agree with the respect for the dead.

Funeral processions can be easily overlooked these days with the advent of the daytime running lamp lights.

Something flashing on a Caddy lead car or hearse just might get peoples attention. Not too sure about the sirens however.

Salvage......you still going Friday??? Your still not on da list!!!

Yup, I'll be there with my Paypal receipt in hand. :D

I guess I'm in supposedly. :)

Gonna be a hot one, take the day off and come race or watch.

Gonna suck without the rest of the racing team there. ;)

I can tell 'ya out here (which isn't rural) the state allows hearses to have amber or purple (yep, purple) flashing lights only. All those in the procession have their headlights on with magnetic FUNERAL flags on their roofs. They are allowed to pass through stop signs/lights as a procession and it's a civil infraction for anyone to jump or pass through the procession. It's usually respected very well....

In TN red is fire AND emergency, blue is police. Some of the local departments have red and blue. Just a little FYI for those traveling thru the south cause it's about the same in all the boardering states.:)

Security has green, yellow, and clear strobes or flashers. Funeral cars "USUALLY" don't have any flasing lights (at least around mid-TN)

In TN your headlights, tail lights, and reverse lights can flash but you can't attempt to pull anyone over..(BY LAW:cool: ) however, people around here would think it was a cop and pull over anyway.
