I went for a walk this evening and saw a little two seater parked behind a house. I thought it was a Miata at first, then some kind of Ferrari....the owner was there and explained that it is an all aluminum 2001 BMW Z8. Has an M5 engine, 400 HP.

Yeah they are a great car! My brother in law had one for years, but just recently sold it. I have driven it quite a few times when visiting him down in Pasadena, CA. Lots of torque and tons of power + handling = :).
Would get lotsa looks from other motorists, especially the young ladies. I always kidded my brother in law that they were checking us out.....however knew it was really just the car they were gawking at! LOL

Maybe I'll see if he will take me for a ride. He also does a nice job with the flowers around his house. That is what led me to his house in the first place. I think he also said he had a couple mercedes in the garage. Sounds like driving it is quite a thrill!

Very interesting. I'll have to admit this in the first time I have even seen this car. Doesn't have anything trademark BMW other than the motor, it seems.

There are a few of them in my town, but the guys that own them never drive them. We'd see them a lot a when they were new, but there are a lot better cars that have come out since then, and you just have to think about it and the doors will ding, because of the soft Aluminum Sheet metal.

Z8's are cool. A friend of mine sold one new and it was around $200,000. I think they were introduced in one of the Bond movies? Could be wrong.

Yeah, "The World is not Enough" was the Bond movie you're thinking about. It came out in 2000.

An elderly lady (late 60s) has one in town that she takes out in nice weather.....6 speed manual too!

Beautiful car.
