Brake light in the dash is on...hard pedal

My powermaster motor is not kicking on when I turn the key on like it used to. The brake light in the dash is staying on and I have no power brakes (pedal is extremely hard). Does this mean the whole unit is shot? I have a remanufactured unit on there right now from 2001. It has a lifetime warranty and thank goodness I have the original receipt. I called the local parts store and they will have the new one in tomorrow. I paid $260 back in 2001 and now they are about $500

I'd say get a new powermaster if its under warranty. If not, go vacuum.

if and when you plan on selling the car, put the original powermaster back on and keep the value.

I'm gonna get a whole new unit. It's got a warranty so why not...
