Hey guys...

I just found out my compressor wheel fins are damaged. Looks to be external input that damaged them.

Cant find the source of the external damage though.....NOT the K+N rubber, NOT any screws in the TB or elsewhere and I don't know where this item came from either 'cause I have NO holes anywhere in my MAF pipe / filter.
My original oil filler tube / breather has been replaced with a solid plug in hole in MAF pipe and a breather on the valve cover.

However - I did have a recent idle problem that just started occurring the drive before I had my turbo problem. Next day I took it out and heard my compressor wheel WAY out of balance about 5 mins into the drive.

Is it possible that anything could come dislodged in the IAC (idle air control valve) located on the bottom of the TB ?

The car would not return to its normal idle (900 rpm or so) after slowing down from any speed. It would rev at about 1500 - 2500 or so. If I was stopped at a light...and put it in neutral - the revs would go right up to 1500 - 2500 or so.

SO - what i'm thinking happened is that a piece inside the IAC valve came off (if this is possible) and got sucked into the fins - damaging them - then eventually going thru the motor....

ANYONE ????

I know the rod w/ spring and little pintle thing on the end of the IAC motor does screw off and I have come across some that were loose because they werent screwed down properly. So I guess it could be happen. You need to pull that IAC out and check to see if those parts are still there to make sure. Post back after you find out, youve got me curious. We might all need to check our IACs (?).

P.S. If that is what happened Im surprised that we havent heard of that happening before.

Yup

The spring, rod and cone shaped thingy are all there. I even unscrewed it from its housing...prob get a new one while I got it out anyway.
I'm torubled that something could've come dislodged or broke loose and I cant find out what it is or where it came from.

They should make a screen or something to protect the compressor blades inside the tb.....THAT WOULD HAVE SAVED MINE FOR SURE.
