I was checking out your stuff on Ebay and the block appears to be an Off center block to me.

Based on the front of the block, it appears that the cam bearing journal area does sit back from the front machined area of the block. This looks like the same block I had except it has the #1 billet cap.

I'd bet it is on-center. A confirmation of the on-center intake fitting with the heads on the block will pretty much sum it up.

block

neal. it looks like a offcenter to me also, look at the rear main its cast steel, not forged, look at the oil ports front and rear ,strait up all oncenter blocks that i have bought and sold, have this opening on a 45 degree angle, but just because i havent seen any dont mean they didnt make them, i would like to have the intake to go on my 153 4 x block,

OC.

Check out the front of a known Off-center block. Note the #1 cam journal is machined on the same plane as the rest of the block.

The other block shown above shows the classic On-center step that throws off the cam gear/damper alignment because the cover is stepped out.

Definitely a different block and he has a experimental casting ## like mine did.

block

ted, i have 3 stage 4.1 0016 offcenter blocks, two are complete engines, one has never been used, i have a 153 4x oncenter block being bored now i have diamond pistons , i will assemble it in a few days, i know what the blocks look like, see you in columbus,

Guy's,

I was looking at the oil tower that is in the front of the block and the knock sensor provision both of which are traits of Off center blocks. The On center blocks I've owned none of which were 4X castings had the oil fitting in the front at a 45 degree angle like O.C. stated and they didn't have a knock sensor provision. I know Buick made a lot of weird Stage stuff. Sorry for adding to the confusion.

Although I seem to have been out voted. The block you have pictured has all the tell tale signs of an Off-center block. Without a bit of mock up it would be hard to prove otherwise.

Stage 2 block

Will intake #25500029 and heads #25500031 work on both off center and on center blocks? I bolted my stage 2 heads #25500031 with intake #25500029 and everything bolts up fine.Does anyone have demensions on off center block that i can measure the front of the block with the center bore of the cylinders?

To add further confusion Buick used the same P/N for both the On-center and Off-center 4BBL intake manifold. The one you have pictured appears to be an On-center intake. All the ones I've seen have a taller carb mounting flange than the Off-center variety. The heads will fit on both blocks. As a question with the intake on the heads do the ports and bolt holes line up?

I saw an On Center block just like that one this year in Bowling Green. In an attempt to get away from it before the money just jumped out of my pocket I did not get a look at the casting number.

New stage 2 block #4x151981

I measured the cylinder bore center on my #153 on center block and my #4x151981 and the cylinder center are the same on both block from the front of the block to center of each cylinder.Does this mean that my #4x151981 block really is on center block?
