To come up with a "type". Hence the T-Type. Now Acura , Honda, Jaguar all have some 'type' on their cars. Just thougt that it was awesome that they copied a Buick

Found out that Jaguar has been using XKE E-TYPE since 1961 maybe even earlier than that. But we can say that Buick is first in our hearts..

Actually the "T-Type" was used for a reason. It comes from psychology. A T-Type person refers to somebody that is agressive and determined.

I always thought that the "T" stood for Touring.

FWIW, the Riviera had an S-Type in 1979.
