Shouldn't be long before a handful of drivers get into the 10's with only tires in optimum conditions. It sure has the mph. Ranger over on cor*****forum.com took his new Z06 out yesterday and ran 11.31 @ 126.9 with 345/40/18 drag radials

Here are the splits on my fifth and best pass:
60'........1.847
330'......4.930
660'......7.413 @ 99.80
1000'.....9.526
1320'...11.311 @ 126.92

DA at the time of that run was about negative 400 feet.

those things are really flying.... that top end is incredible, a tenth slower than me in the 1/8 and a full .14 quicker than my car in the 1/4.. that thing is bookin

Although I like the looks of the C5 Z06 better, I would love to have one. Looks like I may have to step it up a bit or get left behind.
Thank goodness we don't have DAs of -400' around here - closer to 10,000'+.

sure is a killer factory car, but throw 75k at any other domestic car and it could go alot faster.

What do you have in mind? The general has to charge what it thinks the market will bear. Right now they are selling 5 grand over sticker. What you can do is buy a high mileage C5 coupe for about 20 grand and spend 20 more on it to make a badass track car. But from what ppl are saying the C6 Z06 drives better in daily traffic than the C5 Z06. If I had 75K I'd buy a C6 Z06, put on some LG longtubes, get a tune, swap out the runcraps and have a blast putting miles on it. But that is just me.

BTW- for 75-85 large (market is too strong to get one near 65K) you get a magnesium roof, aluminum frame, active handling and a warranty. When you look at what else is on the market for 80 grand, the Z06 is still a pretty good deal. How much do those turbo charged squatting frogs cost? The other alternative is a kit car. But kit cars can be expensive and take a while to build with the proper facilities. I don't know any domestic cars that look as good as a vette. Unless you want to go fast in a FWD Grand Prix or Mustang or something where there approx 1,000,000,000 of em on the street. You COULD build a badass Ultima GTR with an LSx engine in it... Still won't keep ppl from running tens with nothing but sticky tires on a new Z06. Ranger went 11.20 yesterday.

I'm with you Royal, I like the C5 Zo6 lines better too. You won't have to worry about stock C6 Zo6's at Bandi:) I bet mid 12's at best. I only ran a 13.4 once at Bandi in my C5 Zo6.

That is an awesome car. I would love to have one of those. I have seen some sell for $75K. Which is a fair price. That car has a lot to offer. Just think when it is modded.

Out of the small sub group of serious car tuners, only a few would be faster than the C6 Z06 on a road course. Sure there are a lot of faster cars you can build in a straight line, but the Z06 isn't designed for straight line speed.

A friend of mine has a TT427 '01 Z06 and yes, he can hand a C6 Z06 its ass on a road course, but he has close to C6 Z06 money in his 5 year old car and if he sold it, he would get less than 1/2 what a C6 Z06 would sell for.

I saw a turbo 01 Z06 for sale near me. I am not sure what the price was but they said it made 540 at the wheels. But then again reliability has to be considered for aftermarket built cars. Hopefully the C6 Z06 used car market softens up so us common folk can afford one.

My friend's didn't get a good hp number because of a wheel spin problems, but it had over 700 lbft of RWT at 3500 RPM.

The feeling from the passenger seat is that of someone jumping on you chest and not getting off until he shifts to 5th.

Man I'd trade my GN so fast for a new Z06 even though my Buick will beat it from a dead stop. GM really did their homework.
BTW, nice ride you got there. Here's mine

Wow, that was stock motor, just slicks?

And I don't think an 18" rim is a great race slick even though its wide as hell. Put a 325/50/15 MT on it and I bet that 60ft comes down to pulling 1.6's and high 10's.

Damn, I thought these cars had problems with the rear axles busting on hard launches?
I guess I better drop another 100lbs of the GN now to keep up from a roll. :frown:

GM got this one right. ;)

I doubt a 15 inch wheel would fit without some serious grinding and a smaller brake setup. Even 16's on the C5 rear usually required grinding on the suspension to get clearance.

The rears aren't the strongest.

When we were at the assembly plant back in May last year at the Nats, you could tell which chassis were for the Z06 because the brake discs were huge compared to the other others and even the Z51 package cars, so I'm sure a 16" wheel couldn't fit either.

Also, a 100% stock C6 Z06 dyno'd at 457 rwhp at my friends shop so thoses times above are par for that power. It will be amazing if GM does produce the Vette SS with a ss 428 pumping 650hp.
