A friend of mine just picked up an engine he found on craigslist. It was a cobbled up 87 engine running an 85 wiring harness and accessories with a set of cobbled up hooker headers. Just looking at it, it has an Accufab polished upper and 70mm tb, 50lbs injectors, Cometic headgaskets, and came with a "built" trans that does have a billet servo, but a KC tag. We figured it was stock. After disassembling it last night, it has TRW pistons, stock polished rods with ARP 2000 bolts, stock caps with ARP studs, and an Eagle externally balanced crank. Everything is clean and fresh. Kind of a score. The casting numberon the block is 25526109Z. Never seen the Z before.
Anyway, the cam is a flat tappet, and the only marking on it is 1TXBEF scribed in the back. Any idea what it could be?

I'd have to look when I get home but that grind# sounds familiar. Sounds like one eastern performance had back in the day.

I thought kb as well. I looked at an old catalog from the early 80s and nothing matches up. Just debating on leaving it in or putting a stock cam in.

I found a cam card for that cam. It's a pretty decent cam. It's a 208/208 cam on 114* centers. Cam lift .290/.290

Cool, I think we will try it out. Thanks. Any chance you can post the card?[/Q

Here you go.

My friend knows enough about these cars to get himself in trouble. He thought he had some experimental Stage 2 engine.

Awesome, thanks. That is exactly what came to mind last night when we took it apart, but that was after 7 beers, so we just called it the Texas Beef Stick.
