IN an atempt to save a dime, I have ordered and recieved a gm part # 1892082 buick V6 even fire distributor gear.

It is almost idenical to the Cam sensor gear , EXCEPT that the bore ID is to small by 15/10000 or so.:)

I have measured the cam gear with a hansen 1/2" drill bit shank and is a good fit just like the cam sensor drive shaft,
THE distributor gear is bored smaller as the buick V6 distributor is less than .5000" by about .0015 to about .4985", a 31/64"(.484375) drill bit is sloppy loose.

I plan to have the new gear bored out on a metal leth to >.5000" Next week,

THE QUESTION is ? <> Does anyone know iF the cam sensor gear, (JUST the bottom gear without the shaft) IS available as a seperate part from GM? :)

if you order the "cam" gear you will probabbly have the same id, as it is an interference fit, must be press to gether, you can try it with a bench vice, but it can crack, take it to a machine shop ( $10-$15 ) they will heat the gear, cool the shaft and use a press to get em together

My cam sensor has a 3/16" roll pin in gear cross bore

TONY, I have a USED V6 even fire BUICK distributor, it has just slightly less than a standard 1/2" fit, with the roll pin out, the drive gear rotates freely on the shaft, THE SAME with the CAM SENSOR SHAFT, it has a roll pin , with the pin removed, it also rotates smooth and freely on the cam sensor shaft. THE NEW 1892082 gear that i JUST purchased is identical to the DISTRUBTOR gear and SIMILAR TO the CAM sensor drive gear EXCEPT it is not bored out at .500" which is correct for the cam sensor,
A QUICK trip to the machine shop lathe will make short work out of it,

I was just wondering IF anyone KNOWS the CORRECT GM PART NUMBER FOR THE JUST the cam sensor GEAR or if it is even available, I have the green 44W parts book and can not find it, THEY LIST part number 25516915 CAM SENSOR WITH GEAR(the whole thing, or just the top electronic photo interupter cap > 25518357

Best regards. Blackhawk38
