OK,

I'm putting my car back together after a year apart. And I've forgotten some things.

Dose the interrupter ring ride in the slot closest to the plug on the sensor or the farthest out.

I'm thinking the latter
 
you titled the post cam sensor but ill assume you mean crank sensor :confused:, crank sensor interrupt ring goes to the slot furthest from the plug end , if you put it in the other slot it wont work
and make sure the ring doesnt contact the sensor

Yea that's what I meant. I figured it was the outermost one as that one had the least oil grease in it.
