Has anyone installed one at their house? Which one do you get? Do we have a pro vs. cons list?

Just to be clear I am looking at a lift, for the whole car. Not just a floor jack.

I installed a Challenger Asymetric two post 10k lb lift in the shop at my home. Not a cheap lift but well worth the extra IMO. I think you'll find Challenger and Rotary are the two most widely used makes of lifts...There are no cons that I've run into concerning a lift. Beats the heck out of rolling around on the floor.

my garage

I got a commercial Benwill 2 post asymeteric below. I bought it used from my buddy's shop and all of the seals had just been changed on it. Most lifts use very similar parts and can be serviced by almost any general lift service person, many of the parts are interchangable.
The only things to consider are lift height if you are tall, needs to go about 6' up. And whether or not you want the ramp type like Grumpy has or a post/arm type which allows easy wheel changes but is harder to do mods that require the suspension to be loaded, although I have some ingenius ways to do that with my lift.
Here's a place I found to be very helpful http://www.autoliftrepair.com/ they sent me a full manual for my lift and I didn't buy it from them.

WOW  , that does look good i would love to have a garage like you or grumpy have, i' m definetly thinking of getting one installed now and the prices are'nt bad either, how much was the installation ? or was that included
i think yours would be a little easier to work with ( cause you can position the arms or lifts on yours thats gotta help alot )

Once I got it, I was kicking myself for putting off sooo long on buying one..it makes working on the car fun again. Change oil pan gaskets in just a few hours instead of all day crawling in and out from under the car. Dropped the rear end for a fuel tank drop in a snap, installed headers on the LT1 TA from underneath....it goes on and on how easy things are now.

I bought mine used for $800, check your local paper and auction houses, when a shop closes down, they often times auction off all the lift and equipment, I see them locally from time to time.
It was delivered to my house all assembled  for $100. I had to disassemble it to get it in my garage using a rented forklift..another $225, and then paid the guy that delivered it to come back and drill the holes and level it ( I could have done this, but for the additional $100 I let him drill thru the concrete) so total getting it installed was about $425 ontop of the $800 I bought it for, but if I would have had a trailer at the time, I would have done it all myself most likely, but you will need a fork lift to do it yourself.

mine was $3200 new and installed..it is a commercial lift ..you can save $500 by getting a " "cheapie" .. I value my head ..not that there is much left in it :p ...I have an air jack that rolls the length of the lift so ya can lift the front or rear of the car ..that jack was $1800  You can find used ones .. when dealerships go out or small shops that stuff gets auctiond off. Guess I am lazy
