My car runs low 12’s (see my signature for setup) and I want to get another 3/10ths in the ¼ mile.

My options are:

Tuning (of course),
Airbag & tire press. adjustments,
Adding more Octane,
Line Lock & larger rear cylinders (w/ new shoes),
2800 Stall,
and I have slicks 26x8.5” but I have never ran them. (I want to run 11’s on my Nittos)

Boost is max that I want to go 24# and the car weight is 3643 with driver (No spare or jack).

I want to try gutting my cat next, because I am running all of this racing fuel. I heard that 112-oct will ruin a cat. Is this True ??? Should I Gut or no Gut?? I can get another for emission time. This is the 3” cat that came with my 3” THDP.

Car is fast with cat – what will I gain by Gutting??

Cat Guts

Rather than gutting the cat, why not replace it with a test-pipe?

HTH :)

If you are running leading gas thru the cat it is probably already on it's way to ruin so you might as well gut it. Like previously posted you should be running a test pipe if you are using leaded gas.

Most likely your cat. is toast by now. I gutted my THDP cat. and gained 4 psi. boost and it wasn't gummed up yet, no race gas ever.

Sooooo, gut it.

I bought a 3" Random Tech. cat. for use in both cars for testing.

Hollow cat. has the proper look anyway. :)

I would gut the old cat, then get another new one to use for emission dates.
I bought a monte carlo cat and had the down pipe set up to take the 4 bolt flange. Easy pop in and out for the mans emission smell tests every other year.

you will feel a BIG TIME difference after either gutting out the cat or replacing it with a straight pipe...you will gain more boost (make sure to turn it down on the rod when this happens) and the you will notice almost instant spool up and throttle response...oh also the car will sound cooler too :)
