Do ya'll run a cat or did you put a test pipe on.

Just wondering if it is worth it to put on the test pipe or if I should just leave the cat on.

I put on a three inch high flow cat and it seemed to work fine but was very expensive,if you do not need to pass emmisions than I would go with a test pipe.

Test pipe all the way. You can always bolt the cat back up for emissions. Even with the Random Technology 3" cat, my dad's car overboosted by 5 psi when we installed the test pipe. I would say that's a pretty big restriction. The car was pretty modded but it would still have to make a pretty big difference on a nearly stock car, besides the test pipe is cheaper.

So does that mean that I am in danger of over boosting when I put the test pipe on?

At this point my car is bone stock, if that makes a difference.

If the car is going to be for street use, use the high-flow cat from poston or Kirban. I ran my 87 both ways and never noticed a major difference in everyday use.

Catless

After having a bad experience with the dual cats ( yes one on each side of the exhaust manifold) on my 2000 Silverado at Bowling Green. I would say go cat less( my car is). I had one on for just a few hours and the floor got so hot I thought my feet would burn.
