I have 2 albums on my harddrive that I want to burn to an audio cd. One of them is a .flac extension and the other is dvda.....what type of file do I want to convert to so when I burn it I can play on a home or car cd player ? I have Xilisoft video convertor Ultimate and these are the choices I have to convert to

.aac
.ac3
.aiff
.m4a
.mp2
.mp3
.oqq
.ra
.au
.wav
.wma

I know that if I convert it to .mp3 it might not play in some older cd players and the .wma is for windows media player..

.......any cd junkies out there that can lead a poor white boy in the right direction ? :D

For a true audio CD, WAV. Most burning software can convert MP3's on the fly.

FLAC is a lossless compression algorithm, whereas most aren't. In other words, what quality you put into FLAC is the same you get out -- but with most like MP3, it clips high/low sounds, etc. to make the file smaller, so you lose quality.

Some extensions you listed include DRM, like M4A (if I remember correctly). These ones "can" be extra hassle.

Winamp will convert the flac files to mp3 or wma and then you can use Nero or whatever burning program you use to create an audio CD. HTH.

Thanks guys........I do use nero to burn with, will it automatically convert the flac file to mp3 or wma when I choose the "burn audio cd" tab ?
