Hi, Everyone i have a friend who just purchased his first GN! It's a 85 with T-Tops 46,000 miles. Now he want's us to change it over to a intercooled 87 setup. I have lot's of part's off my 87 to install, but i see that the car has most of the sensor's that is on my car. Is the wiring the same? Can i just install the intake, and all other parts, will the car need any wire harness change's? If any one has the pulley's for the serpintine single belt setup, i need that to. Help!

There are a few concerns.
The coil pack and module are wired differently, and are in a different location. The throttle body (with TPS and IAC) are also in a different location and the TPS is wired differently.

The Crank sensor uses a different connection as well as the EGR.

The ECM is obviously different, and the MAF is calibrated differently.

There is no means to control an electric fan on the 85.

Most 85's have the Hydroboost brakes, not the Powermaster. There is probably no wiring associated with the Powermaster.

There is no IAT sensor on the 85, and no wiring for it.

The alternator is in a different location, so you would need the positive battery cable from the 87 to make it work. Also, the alternator connector is different.

I suppose the easiest way to make the conversion is to use an 87 engine harness, which would pretty much plug and play with a few modifications.

Yes i see the part's are in different locations, but all the sensor plugs seem to be there. Anyone got a post link for 85 to 87 swap? So all the plugs are made diffrent? It's got IAC, TPS, Charcoal canister, MAF, Coil pack, Boost sensor,ect...
