check engine light

just have a question, have a 84 gn hot air, with a bigger injectors and a chip, and bigger fuel pump. when i start the car the check engine comes on, and the idle is a little high, but after about 5 minutes, the idle come down and the check engine turns off, has anybody come by this problem, or is it just a gn thing, after all it is a 84. appreciate any replys.

Never anything like that. My GN always idled high when it was cold but then after a few minutes it would idle down, however, the check engine light wouldn't come on. Did you see if it's giving you a code? You can check that with a paper clip

I've seen it before...

Hey sy1322, I have the same problem, with a non-storing code. I haven't had a chance to replicate it with my OTC plugged in, while the light is on, but I've hooked it up after the light went away and there are no stored codes. It really hasn't been a concern to me so far as it does go away after a couple minutes. I'm curious now that other people are experiencing the same thing though. I'll keep you posted with my findings.

well turned the car on today, and no check engine light, we will see in the near future and see if the check light turns on, and thanks for all the replys, appreciate it. and have a good day
