What product to use to clean grease on a new Alternator housing?

As y'all know they're pretty porous.

Hi Rob. As you know, it's pretty hard to clean them so they look like new, but there is a way to make them look new. Just get a can of Krylon "dull aluminum". Paint it with this stuff, and it will look like brand new. Doesn't come off either. Best place to find it is tru-value hardware stores. ;)

On my TTA I used a tooth brush and some simple green. Then used some metal polish to bring it all up. Pain in the rear cleaning them up! The GN I gave in and bought a new alternator and got that LS1 fan upgrade for it so I don't have to see the front! :)

Hey Jim, if I pull on the Roosevelt Blvd, at say Wyoming, and go north ... any chance I'd get a run by the time I got to Krispy Kreme?

Aluminum wheel cleaner, same stuff for T rims and a tooth brush.

Thanks for all the excellent ideas fellas.

After I posted I thought about using Dawn dishwashing liquid and a toothbrush. Haven't tried it yet...Alternator is still on car.

I'll try one of these ideas..don't know which one yet.

Thanks Again!
