Hi guys i'm new to the site, I just purchased my 84 T Type and its all original except for a K&N Filter that was added. It runs and drives fine but its idles high and has a little sputter/pause ocassionally normal driving and under boost. Any ideas where to start?

It could be something like a bad injector or injectors or a clogged fuel filter or a failing pump if the car is mostly stock check the parts that have not been addressed yet

Sorry I hadn't got a chance to reply, been working lots lately. Last time I drove it was working fine then randomly started dying out as if it was running out of gas so i'm going try to check the fuel pressure. Maybe the fuel pump is starting to go bad and I also noticed that it started pinging when I would get on it so that also a indication of lack of fuel. What should the fuel psi be at?

The fuel psi should be at least about 38psi with vac line on and about 43psi vac line off at idle. It should go up 1psi per 1lb of boost psi. It also could be a dirty fuel filter causing some restriction that's causing it or the fuel pressure regulator might be showing it's age.

You may be able to use a VOM to get to the bottom of this.

Sputtering and high idle will need a scant tool to quickly resolve. The other options are;
1-Throwing parts, time and $ at the car
2-Find someone in your area familiar with these cars (Key = Familiar)
3-Take it to the dealer, get the Vaseline out, and pray it won't hurt. LOL

Regarding FP:
If the car is all completely stock, I believe FP will be around 37, line off. :unsure:

If the plan is to pay someone to work on the car, and keep it stock, a scantool is recommended, not needed.
If you use the search function, you will find 99.9999% of the answers.

Good luck. :)
