I just bought another TTA and it is pretty good shape for the most part, and engine was very clean and well cared for, not driven much at all the past few years and I think it may be contributing to this problem. The only mods are K&N Filter, Pitbull chip, and exhaust.

On a cold start, it fires right up, goes up to about 2000 rpms, and then bounces down to 600 rpms. It idles really rough and cannot hold at 600 rpms without stalling, so you have to throttle it for about 4-5 minutes to come up to temperature then it idles better without stalling.

I have also noticed that on initial throttle, the car seems to hesitate a bit, cold or warm.

The car has 45k miles on it and the fuel filter/pump/ injectors are original. I have already ordered the new turbo tweak chip and 60 lb injectors as well as a new Walbro 340 fuel pump, new fuel filter, and hot wire kit. These are being put on the car right now and I am hoping this fixes the issues. Am I on the right track?

Anyone advise on how to fix the issues or if anyone else has experienced this?

Sounds to me like you need to check you idle air counts and maybe clean the valve with throttle body cleaner and reset the iac and tps values. You current mods are all good I'd get a scan master if ya don't have one

Thanks for the advise. I had the mechanic cleans the throttle body too but I will have him check the air counts and rest the iac and tps values. Is this what is called tuning the car? I was going to take it to a shop that specializes in our cars and they can tune it. Do you think this is a good idea after doing the few mods and installing the new turbo tweak chip?

I will get a scan master. What does it do? Does it just monitor key settings of the engine? Or does it tune the settings or give you the ability to adjust the settings? I just bought another TTA with 56K that is a project. Heavily modified. It has upgraded maf, translator, and a direct scan module on the ECM. It starts right up and has a constant idle around 800 rpm. No bouncing, no stalls. Is the direct scan module the same as a scanmaster? Are these interchangable? Would you recommend upgrading the maf sensor and adding a translator on my mostly stock TTA too? What are the advantages? What size sensor and translator do you recommend and what is the difference? What are the pros and cons of doing this?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am a real novice at this and this forum is the best place to learn from experienced TTA and Turbo Buick owners that have had the same experiences and have worked on our beloved cars.

Thanks again in advance.

UPDATE:

Thanks again for the advise on the TTA. I picked it up today and it runs like new again. The new injectors, fuel pump&filter, hotwire kit, and new turbo tweak chip from Eric did the trick. My mechanic followed Eric's steps to install injectors and chip and reset the tps values. Now it idles perfect, smooth from 2000 rpm down to 600 rpm. Also, no more hesitation on initial throttle. That is the way the TTA is suppose to run. Can't wait for summer.

Awesome!!! Glad to hear your car is good now!!! just save some money to buy new tires lol lol
