hey guys im thinkin about rebuilding my 109 with a wre 245 stroker kit. is this kit fully machined ready to drop in (assuming block has been machined)? also i was thinking about the .030 over bore they mention in the kit. since this is only like a 3 or so cid improvement over stock is it worth it? im thinking the extra stroke and smaller cyl would direct more power downward to the crank and give a more complete cyl burn = more torque. on the other hand the bore has slightly more cubes and possibly the adv. of unshrouding the bigger valves ill get in the stock heads but it cost money to bore and what about the cyl burn being uneven or no complete? also would the greater surface of the piston mean less power going downward to the crank? any other adv/disadv to either design anyone can think of?

The overbore is for cleaning up wear in the cylinder, not for the increased cubes. 0.030", like you said, is not enough change in displacement to make much difference. It's not enough to "unshroud" either, or to affect combustion. So unless the block requires thirty over to clear out all the wear, I would go with the minimum that will clean up the bore, and save the wall thickness for the next rebuild. Don't know anything about the wre kit, it may not give you many choices. The longer stroke will give more torque, as compared to increasing bore to give the same displacement, but will limit rpms as compared to big bore/short stroke.

We have pistons for these engines in .020", .030", and soon to .040" over. There are several cars out there running .040 over with no problems. As far as the stroke it will definitely help the torque but it will not limit the rpm unless it runs out of air. We have built many stage II with 3.625 stroke that rpm real well. Our most recent made 1285 h.p. at the wheels and the guy revs the thing to 8,800.
