I bought a coverter from a board member that is a 2,800 stall 12" l/u from Poston's. On the back it is stamped GN2800 6/99.

It has never been installed.

Anyone know who Poston's Converter supplier was prior to 2001?
If so, any input on the converter?

I am going to be putting in a fresh BRF trans soon and want to get it all right the first time. My car is a high 12 sec car with stock turbo. A TA49 may be in store in the next year or so.

The converter part is where I am still not 100% sure.

TIA!

Joel

It is actually PAE in El Paso, TX. 1-(915)-855-6009. I have one that started out as a D6 core and worked pretty well in my 84 T until the car got hit. Car feels like it weighs 800lbs less than before I installed the converter. Almost like my 10" Non lockup in my 85 GN.

Thanks Eric. I also noticed what appeared to be "UPAC" stamped on the back also. Does this mean anything?

Any way to tell if a converter has ever been installed before?

Thanks all!

Joel

Not sure what the "upac" would stand for. Mine is also stamped 6/99 (build date) with the GN2800 on the back side (clutch/front cover) and has P A E scratched into the trans side between the "divots" for the fins. All this is covered with black paint. If there is a wear mark on the hub, below where the lugs engage the hub, around the circumference of the hub, it has been run-or installed and turned a few times. Also, the stator splines should be clean and no marks from the stator support. Jim uses new stators and it should be clean inside.
