Converter install?

How hard is it? I have nice shop, lifts, and any tool I need....but I'm still learning here and have never done anything this extreme.....can a beginner do this or should I take it somewhere....I have a really good Buick TR guy about 30 minutes away so if its to big a job I can take it to him......what do you think?

Man that is so easy to do!!! Make sure you have the car properly held up and always always disconnect the kickdown cable, I have seen way to many people forget about that and break them when the trans is dropped When you put the torque converter in make sure you put tranny fluid in it first and make 110% sure it is all the way in the pump, you don't want to see what happens if you don't. But really it is easy as heck to do it and I would not think twice of dropping it out, it is one of the easiest things to do

I've had my tranny out 3 times now in the past month. I don't have a lift, I'm 45 & have had 2 back operations. I've got it down so I can remove it in just over an hour & reinstall it in just over 2 hours. Not a hard job, out is a piece of cake, going back in is a bit tougher, being you need to align the tranny properly to get the bolts lined up, if you know your way around a car, go ahead & do it. Use common sense, take your time, as you remove bolts, make sure you make a mental note where they came from, I use a few magnetic parts trays (a cup cake tin works great) Make sure you properly install the converter, if you dont, bad things will happen. One last bit of advice, make sure you pull the dip stick tube before you remove the tranny & have it in place before you reinstall it. I got my tranny in all the way & then fought with installing the tube for over an hour. I also remove my detent cable at the tranny so you dont need to fight with that too! Its not that hard I've had a lot of practice latley I installed the PPC, removed it, and put it back in to track down that noise! (Its still there btw).
The place i do it at has a good hydraulic tranny jack.
Good Luck at Jackson just remember this heat and humidity isnt the best for top performance.

Not to hijack but I installed mine a little bit ago and didn't fill the converter with fluid when I installed it. Car is still on jackstands. Don't tell me I have to go back?
