i have the poston 3500-3800 stall and it doesnt have a lock up, and everyone has now tells me that i need to put a lock up in it, can i use the current convertor and just put ina luck up with a switch or do i need a whole new convertor and if so where can i get a big over 3000 stall with a lock up. and last if i cant use the current convertewr why do they make it if you need a lock up and cant put one in??????

N/L AND L/U CONVERTERS ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. IF YOU GOT N/L NOW YOU WILL NEED A NEW CONVERTER TO GO L/U. TRY A PTS 9 X 11. IS CAN BE MADE TO STALL HIGH AND STILL HAVE L/U. I THINK WHEN THEY SAY YOU NEED TO PUT IN A LOCK UP, THEY MEAN YOU NEED TO PUT IN A LOCK UP CONVERTER.

Who is telling you to get a LU and why. If your NL is efficient you do not need to change.

Stick with the non-lock converter. Not worth the money to switch over. You're looking at well over $1000 convert, and there is no real reason to switch.

I like my N/L converter. There is nothing more annoying to me then cruising around town with the converter locking and unlocking. I've been driving manual cars every day for the last 12 years and when I bought this car, the stock d5 about drove me nuts!!

You can use a lock up and still be able to have better performance at the track. It can be set to work with a manual lock up so you can control when it does lock also. You can get a great lock up converter to $650 and you will be more than happy you did. There is an extremely small number of racers out there that should not run a non lock. We have cars running over 850 hp with them. If you do go lock up, you also need to know if your trans is still set up for a lock up. If not, you need to put in the lock up valve and TCC solenoid for it to work. Mark
