How can you tell what stall converter you have in a car? I bet I have to send it to somebody. It is a grey converter and since the tranny was rebuilt (very poorly), I figured it was an after market canverter. As far as I know, the owner before me knew what to buy for the car, but only went half the distance in getting it done correctly, so I think it is an aftermarket job, but no idea how far he went. IDEAS?

set the parking brake if it works hold your foot on the brakes as hard as you can and ease into the throttle and watch the tach, the rpm's at which the wheels start to spin is the approx. stall of t/c.
