I don't know of any place that does that but if you do find a place; I would be very interested in purchasing the ecm, wiring harness and compete engine from you.

there was an artical in one of my off road magizines about a Suburban with a cummings in it. it gave no mention of the conversion. i will find it and get teh info if there is any thing worth wild in there.

you can forget about the "cat" you would need to put in the bed of the truck the front springs would bottom out to the bump stops.

What about the 3116 and 3126s? Didnt GMC put a few in their trucks?
I would not think they would be any heavier than the B Cummins Engine but then again...I have never looked it up.

You coming to Farmington Sunday with the Birdy?

The small cats shouldn't be any heavier than a B cummins. If you decide to do it go with a Cummins. I would use 12 valve inline pump version 1995 ? to 1998 model. Easy to work on and reliable .Also easier to get parts for and cheaper than a Cat and easier to crank the horsepower up if you decide to. Poke around on turbodieselregistry.com . You can buy a mount kit to bolt the B in about anything from Cummins. It's been done before on the early Chevys but i think it is a tight fit. I think there was one on the site i mentioned.

didn't the 3116 & 3126 come in the 2 ton version trucks? I was thinking that was the smallest truck the cat came in. I could be wrong though.
yes will be at Farmington. are you going to bring any of the Pontiacs?

There is one on E-Bay right now with a Cummins in it. He did the conversion himself.

Steve,No I wont be bringing any of the Pontiacs. I may bring a car to try and sell though...a 57 Chevy.

Here is a good Dodge Cummins website http://www.turbodieselregister.com/ . If you do a search you will probably find some info.

My buddy works for a local CAT dealer and the 31 series was his speciality. I asked him about putting one in my 1988 K30 Dually. He didn't recommend it at. If I remember right it was to heavy and long. But then again my memory isn't too long. :D

I talked to him yesterday and he was working on a 4000 horsepower 85 foot speed boat. It had four 1000 horse CATs across the back

Thanks..Thats an Awsome site!!!!! One thing I didnt think about was the extra sound proofing insulation needed on the firewall for a diesel truck to keep me from going deaf in the cab!!!

Thanks again guys!!!

CAT power would be my pick,How about a 6.6 Duramax Turbo Diesel though, they already came in chevys it seems like a GM thing, my brother has a 05' 2500 HD Duramax. I love the way the diesel runs smooth and with an exhaust it also sounds great, Also its really fast, pretty soon he will be leaving me in the dust. He is also an engineer for CAT. Good luck

Duramax is not out of the question but im betting the Cummins "B" may be the way to go. It has been around longer than most of the others mentioned and has a great record for power, reliability, upgrades, etc.
