Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone knew what it takes to convert 86/87 turbos to an 84/85 application. Is it just a matter of reclocking the turbo and everything else fits the same? Or is there some other things you have to do?

If you run an intercooler, it's a matter of reclocking. If not, you have to reclock it and figure out a way to mate the different size outlet of the 87 turbo with your intake manifold.

You will have to reclock the compressor and turbing housings and put the mounting ears in the right spot. 84 and 87 mounting ears are spaced differently so you will have to transfer your original ears to the 87 turbo. I just got done and it took less than 10 minutes.

I was planning on using a later turbo when I intercool my car, so the oil return line fits right on as well as the oil line to the turbo? If so, its good to know its a fairly easy conversion.
