Coolant temp reading on the SM

ok, when you flip through the SM readings and it gives you the coolant temp reading what sensor does that go off of? On a fbody i THINK there are two CTS's. What does the SM read off of? The one for the gauge the tells the time or the one the ECM reads for fuel and spark control?
 
Scanmaster is reading the values in the ecm.
So that means the coolant sensor for the ecm.
The speed indicated is from directly off of the cable, and not the needle, so what ever slippage there is in the speedo head is ignored by the ecm, etc etc
