Hey all,

yesterday i was bringing my buick to a car show, i stopped for gas in the morning, went to the show.. on the highway the knock gauge was dancing all over the place whenever my foot wasnt actually on the trottle, whereas when i would go down any slight or extreme incline it would start going nuts, but as soon as i touched the pedal it would go back to normal, i figured it might be my timing chain getting ready to give up on me or somthing. I continued onto the car show, upon leaving i came to the first stop sign and the car simply died, that was it all it does is crank, but no start. so i had it flatbed'd to my garage (also thanks to 2 board and TBQC members who came over to help me look over the car once it arrived in the garage)

whats' been checked...

Pulled the oil fill off and cranked, rockers move so the chain is good.

pulled a wire off the coil pack and it arcs (sparks)

turn the key and it's got full fuel pressure and the pump works (can hear it and the FP gauge shoots right up)

any suggestions? tonight i will have time to play more with it as i am at work right now.

I cant pull any codes as i am running a DFI but want to narrow down as much as i can to hopefully save myself

If it's water in the gas, try adding a couple of bottles of HEET. The stuff people put into their fuel systems in the winter to prevent freezing. The HEET is methanol (wood alcohol). It is soluble with the water and gasoline (they will then mix).

I don't think water in the gasoline would cause the knock sensor to go off. Maybe misfire though.

If you timing chain jumped a tooth, timing would be off. Jump some more and you can't run.

fuel

If you think you have bad fuel or not getting fuel spray some gas in the throttle body,it should fire.Bruce
