I just recently put my engine back into my car, I had to replace the shortblock, initially I was able to start it. Rough idle, because TPS is .58 at idle and IAC was something 80. Eventually the car stalled on me and I have not been able to start it. With just the ignition on the TPS is at .56 and IAC is at 140. Would this cause the vehicle not to start? It will almost catch sometimes. Also for kicks I unplugged my IAC and it still read 140, it was also a new actuator. I put the original one back in and it is still at 140.

Thanks,
Charles

TPS needs to be .40-.46...no more than that. Did the crank sensor take a whack and break or come loose?

I will adjust it to that range and go from there. I guess eliminate one thing at a time. Who knows what got banged around when I dropped it in. But I guess I start with what is the known for now and see if that makes a difference.

Pretty much same as "MeanBuick" chart but may be a little easier to follow:

Thanks for all the input. As it turns out, I took my battery to have it checked because I noticed when I was looking at the battery voltage it was dropping with just the door open. 12.2 to 11.1 in about 1 min. I have consistantly had it on a charger, for some reason I had pulled the charger off and noticed how quickly the voltage was dropping. I took the battery and had it tested and one of the cells were dead. So the starter was sucking all the current leaving very little for the the plugs and that is why it would caught sometimes and almost start. Anyway, I put a new battery in and it still didn't want to start, so I pulled my old fuel rail pressure gauge off and put on one I rented from autozone and the fuel pressure was 90psi. So I turned the pressure down to the upper 30s. Car still wouldn't start. I then put the pedal to the floor and it started up and reved so high that it retarded the spark 13.4 degrees. After I let it warm up a bit I was able to keep it running while I adjusted the fuel pressure back up to 43PSI. It still runs a little rough, but I need to adjust the IAC. I did turn the car off and I was able to start it again without any problem. So it appears a bad battery was the problem. The battery was 7 years old.
