Just went through my first mods on my 87 gn.
Installed new fuel pump, hotwire, injectors and regulator, scanmaster, translator, maf, tranny cooler.
Lots of my interior components such as lighter, lights in glove and visor and interior did not work.
My mechanic after the above installs, thankfully found the problem with my interior issues and told me it was just a few loose wires.
Sorry for the rambling...
In short, after I parked the car in my garage 2 days later, dead battery. After I started her up . I put a volt meter and with the engine off, I still had a reading of 13.
I checked the obvious stuff, its just racking my brain don't know where to start.
Thanks!!

I had a simalar issue with mines... Check both ur battery posts make sure that there really snug tight. WHen i mean check, i mean really try to move them with pressure and make sure they do not move at all, also make sure that the battery post contacts are sqweaky clean. I thought mines where properly secure until she started to start a little sluggish until one day i turned her off and came back to a dead battery.. I then checked my battery post and they felt snug until i applied a little more pressure than the usaual and turned out my positive cable was slightly loose, i then tightend the battery post properly and problem solved , she also starts up like a dream ,what a major diffrence a small thing made....also be careful on tightening the post, make sure u dont strip the threads.....
Looks like ur a new yorker, im in brooklyn. Glad to help anytim

Also to add, make sure ur volt light on ur dash lights up when key is on and engine not running, then turn on engine and it should go out. If volt light doesnt come on when key switch is on , engine off .. Then u most likely need a bulb replacement.

I know this is the obvious,, but somtimes its the obvious that we overlook

If you have a hand held multi-meter, set it to amps and pull one battery cable. Put the meter in series between the cable and battery post and check the reading. It should be under 100 ma or 0.1 amps. It can read higher for several seconds, then drop. Make sure all interior and under hood lights are off for the test. If it is high, you have a constant drain on your battery.

I had the exact same issue. Drop the starter and have the starter checked out, my money is on the solenoid, cut I replaced the whole unit as it was a 10 or 15$ difference.

The circuit that charges your battery from the alternator runs through the connection where your Volt light is.Another big culprit that drains batteries is the Fan delay relay on the driverside fender well. It's the biggest relay of the three. If it goes bad it will turn your fans on when the car is off and not shut off or come on randomly while the car is off. It's better just to unplug the thing regardless.

When checking parasitic drain w/a multimeter you need to be less than 25milliamps. 50 mA will kill a 600 cca battery in 3 days 100 mA is WAY too much.

You can do the same thing with a test light place it between the the positive cable and the positive terminal disconnect the cable place the alligator clip on the bolt and touch the battery terminal with the pointed end..if it lights up theres a draw, start with the radio fuse cause the clock will cause a drain....then have a friend pull one fuse at a time till the light goes out....the fuse that turns the light off is the circuit with the draw.....

I'm on Staten Island too. If your looking for a place to show off you National there is Gateway at the beach off of Hylan on Sundays. Get there about 10:30 A.M or you will never get a spot. Another spot is Home Depot parking lot car show on Wednesdays. 6:30pm near Veterans. There is also a car show at the Sears parking lot area near the mall. That's every other Tuesday. They also give trophy's I think. Oh Yeah.... Tighten your battery cables.
