My Buick Indy engine has its sync sensor on the Indy fuel pump drive which is driven by the camshaft. It's a 3-wire sensor reading a magnetic pin. I need to identify the pinouts so I can test it (first), then properly wire it to the ECU. The sensor is epoxied into a machined boss, and no manufacturer nor part number is visible. Also, the integrated 3-pin connector is not marked.
I want to connect power and ground, then confirm a signal as I rotate the engine by hand, but I don't know which pin is which. If I simply proceed with trial/error through the 9 permutations, am I at risk of frying the sensor? If so, is there a way to determine which pin is power, ground, and signal? Thx in advance.
