Difference between 85 and 86/87 trans

What are the differences between the 84/85 turbo 200R4 and the 86/87 BRF? Is it possible to upgrade one to 86/87 specs?

The valve bodies are 98% alike (don't worry about the 2% ), the governors are the same as is the rest of the transmission, with one exception.

The 84/85 BQ intermediate servo is smaller than the 86/87 BRF. That's easy to swap.

Thanks Greg. Are there any case modifications required to accomodate the larger BRF servo or do you just swap in the new components? I appreciate the help.

P.S. Was the 85 torque converter a D5?

my stock 84 convertor was a d5.

my question is what's the deal with the bq governor having 2 springs?mine has one on each weight.

Pull off the one with the plastic cone. The lighter one under the bigger weight.
