my new car has direct scan software and i am wondering what i have to do to get it downloaded on my laptop. do i need to buy aprogram or what?? it has the cable in the car where can i get a cable that goes from the car to the laptop?? thanks for any help!

The software is 'free', and the cables are pretty standard too, but what you really need is the magic black box that comes with DirectScan when you buy it. If you don't have that then you really don't have DirectScan.

Direct Scan

Call Red Armstrong Or Quad Air @ 440-235-3232 He has every thing you need..

this is what i have, there is a yellow cord with wires in it from the engine bay, looks to be somewhere around the front half of the motor, that comes inside and the little black box is in the arm rest compartmen. then it ahas a plug in the console that is a male 24 pin connection. is this the box that you are talkin about???

direct scan info

Im not sure about the yellow cord or wire that is running into the engine
compartment .. The direct Scan Will connect directly into the bottom of the stock ecm ( located in the passenger kick panel ) Their is a connection to ecm-Then to the Direct Scan Brain Box- Then A Cord with seriel port ends and connect to your laptop .. You may have a different style engine management system that came on the car, with out seeing it im lost

If you gave me your e-mail I can send you photos of my set up..

i am new to the car and didnt really understand what parts i was looking at. the wires i was talkin about goes to a different box. one that i have in the console. the direct scan has a little box mounted on my dash, that reads degrees of retard and detonation, not to the yellow wires i previoussly thought. here is my email bodydropped318@aol.com
