Why could I not use a regular fuel injection fuel pump. I realize the alchy would eat it up quicker but why else could I not use one?

Wanting to build one just do not want to wait and mail order parts.

You can use it, just won't last very long. Check out the alchy board, there were some posts regarding that the other day.

DUH!!!! Never thought to check there. I have never asked until now.

I have used a standard injecton pump (external) from a VW Rabbit for over a year. I use Methonal too. Not to mention the pump was a used unit with god knows how many miles on it when I pulled it. 12 bucks from Pick your Part.

What year VW rabbit did that come from?

Damn good question. I would guess it was 1980ish. I think they went to FI in 78. There was a whole line of them at the junk yard.
