By the looks at the stuff in your combo... you have a lot of tuning to do. And 18 lbs on your motor is not like 18 lbs on a stock GN.
Time to rethink your wheel, you'll need a lot of alcohol to tame the octane requirements your motor has. Turnon points need to be lower, alcohol volume needs to be increased..consider going to a multi-stage or progressive system. Along with timing reduction big time until you have the knock monster in a noose
I've seen some cars use 14 degrees total using small kits..
What timing are you currently running? Do you have the runs recorded on direct scan?

As far as your original question, get a pressure guage and tee it to the pressure side.. Another way is to use an ammeter and see if its drawing current..if there is a load(nozzle) the pump will draw current..how much depends on nozzle and pressure setting.
