I talked with my nephew that has the vehicle and he stated that the car is running now after he put a new cam sensor cap but that it has a small miss he can not find and the engine light is on. He said that he was going to wait to take it and hook it up to one of those diagnostic computers that tells you what the problem could be in order to find the problem (on the engine light and the miss). He will probably will do this this week, I will keep you guys posted as soon as it runs the way is suppose to. THANKS for the info.:cool:

The car WILL NOTIf it was a bad ecm, it should at least start and run like crap,

Not really,try taking your ecm out of your car and see if it starts.Did you read Ttype 84's post prior to yours
? I have seen cars with bad ecm's that won't start on numerous occasions.It really depends on what fried in the ecm.

You can pull the codes yourself with a paperclip...It will tell you the same thing that the big fancy diagnostic machines will tell you...

Go here for more info on how to do this... http://www.gnttype.org/maint/malf.html Check the codes and post here what they are and we'll tell you more on what to check/change to fix it...

These older computers don't tell everything like the new car computers do...The is still some diagnostics that you physically have to do to check individual components on our "old" cars...

Thank You for taking intrest
Don't leave me yet help me get this GN up and running again

I finally got the car home, it was not fixed because the mechanic could not figure it out what the problem was or how to set it on time. As he drove it home it was missing real bad like if it was out of time (backfiring through the muffler and you could also hear it through the K&N filter), also the header on the driver's side was RED HOT. A new Cam sensor cap was put on and the car started and it starts right up every time but it is missing and I would like to get it fixed. Can it be the Coil Pack, it was converted to 86/87 sometime back

A friend of mine from Laredo will be bringing a mechanic who is going to attempt to fix it and we will try to get the malfunction codes and will post them here so that you guys can help me get this beauty running good again.

THANKS:cool:

Make sure that the plug wires are going to the right cylinder...If the coil pack/ign module wasn't put together right, then the firing order may be different than an 86/7 plug wire order...

Are you using an 86/7 ign module and 86/7 coil or do you have the 86/7 coil pack adapter plate on the 84/5 ign module???

I have and adapter plate, or a conversion to an 86/87, I don't think that they touched the wiring, at least I hope not, because it does sound like if it is out of time or as if a wire cable was inverted.
THANKS:cool:

If you seperate the coil pack from the ign module, there are wires between the two...If the wires weren't connected to the right terminals, then the spark plug tower wiring *MAY* be different than what they should be...

I think that I have the adapter plate, the mechanic checked to see if the plate under the coil pack was not fried and maybe they did not place it back the same way they took it out and that is maybe it runs like it has some of the wires inverted, because that is what it sounds like to me. Also those explosions that take place on the intake and come out on the K&N filter. Do you think that the ECM codes can tell me what is the problem in order to correct it.

THANKS:cool:

Sit tight I think Im heading your way this weekend does the car run or does it pop through the intakeall the time the scan tool is just a few hours away.

THANK-YOU DFISHER

The car runs very badly it pops from the intake and it misses (Like is misfiring or the injectors are not following through), the engine shakes all over and it acts like if she is going to stall. It looks to me like she has two inverted plug wires, but then again I DO NOT KNOW, that's why I want an expert (Someone who knows these Black Beauties) opinion. If you are coming please let Servando De La Garza (who purchased your 84 T-TYPE here in Laredo) and he will notify me and if I'm not here I will leave the keys with him.

THANKS :cool:

How are your spark plug wires hooked up on your coil pack???

If it's like this...

4 2 6 ---> ign mod harness
1 5 3

Then try it like this...

6 2 4 ---> ign mod harness
3 5 1

The center two have to be 2 and 5, the other coil pairs have to be 4 and 1, and 6 and 3...

Check to see which way yours is hooked up and try it the other way...See what happens...

This weekend for sure saturday or sunday I will leave that to you guys also send me a pm, I just want the whole story on your car I have lots of parts just want to cover as much as I can.
