i just got my GN and the lock cylinder on the drivers side door is destroyed and must be replaced. The car has power locks. How hard of a task is this? should i just take it somewhere or is it easy enough to do myself. thanks

Simple. Makes no difference whether its power locks or not, as far as the cylinder is concerned. Take off the door panel. Have the window up. You should be able to see the cylinder inside the door, may need a drop light. There is one metal rod going to the cylinder from the latch that needs to be disconnected. It is held to the cylinder with a little plastic doo-hickey:rolleyes: attached to the cylinder that clamps on the rod. Okay I dont know what you call that thing, but you should be able to see whats going on when you get in there, trust me its not that big of a deal :) (if youve already got the new cylinder(s) you should already know what Im describing if its on it; If its not then you just need to transfer the one from the old cylinder to the new once you get it out). Once youve got the rod off all thats left is a sort of "U" shaped metal piece with a tab on it that slides through grooves on the cylinder itself and holds it firm to the door skin. Same sort of deal as whats used to keep those breather filters in the air cleaners on some carbed cars. Anyway, pull at the protruding tab with pliers or use a standard screwdriver to pry at it to get it to slide off, and your done. Cylinder will pop out and installation is reverse.
