DS hardware timeout. Try again?

That message keeps popping up. I have shielded the ribbon cable with foil, but it did not help. The contacts on the ECM are cleaned THOROUGHLY. After they were cleaned, I lightly scored the contacts with fine emory cloth, and it is apparent that bare metal is exposed. Any other reason?

Mine only did that when I had the connector pushed on fully, try and back it off just a tad and retry. Instead of putting something in the ribbon connector to make sure it cant go on all the way, I used an exacto knife and cut out a rectangle w/ a rectangle slot in it so it slides on the ecm connector and does the same thing that way I can make fine adjustments w/ different thickness paper and cardboard...just takes some work.

Windows ME. I know, I know, I hate it too. It used to work flawlessly though. This is the only thing I use the laptop for. I am going to go over the contacts again, if that does not work I am going to try another printer cable. I have the ribbon spaced fron the ECM with a cut piece of zip tie.
