I'm about to purchase a dual fan (ramcharger style). I was wandering what was the best dual fan relay harness to get. Racetronix or caspers.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

I have the caspers and it works great. Very easy to install and I havent had a problem yet.

--------
Fully PnP with GM factory wiring
Dual independent circuits for high / low speed selection utilizing factory wiring / control
Weatherproof construction
Dual fused circuits
Dual 40 amp rated mil. spec relays
Direct battery power removes excessive loads from factory wiring, relays and fusible links
Improved voltage supply = improved air flow
Battery nuts w / accessory power taps and body ground upgrade (optional)
All connections soldered
All installation hardware included

I would go with the Racetronix relay set for the fans. All of their terminals are crimped and soldered, most others are just crimped. Anything that Racetronix makes will be better than any equivelant part from another vendor. They have always been about quality instead of high production at a low cost. Their prices are around the same as any other vendor so it's an easy decision, RACETRONIX!

I've received good build quality parts from both Racetronix & Caspers.

Regarding terminals that are "crimped and soldered" vs "crimped" -- while soldering is a nice touch, a properly crimped connector using production-like machinery (not hand tools) will provide nearly a "gas-tight" crimp, ie the crimp is so tight that water will not penetrate and the crimp remains electrically sound.

All factory automobiles I'm aware of, rely primarily on crimp-only (not crimp + solder).

Regarding the design of the Casper & Racetronix dual fan harnesses, i think there is 1 key difference. I could be wrong, so if vendors want to correct me , pls do!

Caspers harness: both fans operate at high speed only, from the ECM's "low fan" signal. ie, both fans are either "off" OR run at high speed. This is how Ramchargers originally sold the fan.

Racetronix harness: both fans operate at low OR high speed. Low speed is triggered from the ECM's "low fan" signal. High speed is triggered from the car's own high-speed fan relay.

With both vendors, the car's original relays only provide the triggering signal, and do not conduct the dual fan's high current demand.

If it's F-body fans----call Casper's Electronics

John at Casper's Electronics fixed us one and it was plug-and-play....One wire to connect to the + side of the battery. The others pluged into each fan and the last one pluged into the GN's fan connector. Is was soooooooooo easy my shop students had it ALL connected in about 10 minutes. Give John a call @ Casper's Electronics.

If this is the case then I think the Racetronix is the better design...
