I know the chips are located in the passengers side
kick panel...I took it out and see what looks like two chips on the top, how do I take it out?? I want to order a red 108 race chip & have the ability to swap chips whenever I want too...On the same
token I don't want to damage anything trying to get what suppose to be a 93 red street chip out...

Do they just pull out or this some really neat trick on how to get
these out?

Thanks,

Todd

chip removal

you can just wiggle them out carefully, i just did mine today, just move either end a little at a time alternating sides till it pulls out

buickpower,

Thanks, finally someone replies...:D

I disconnected what looked like two connectors (a small one & little larger one) Is the chip the metal box about the size of a classroom book? If so, when I order the race chip I just
swap them...nothing more to do??

Thanks,

Todd M.

Pat,

I did...uh I didn't mean to? So I'm confused what does the chip look like? Their were several wires connected leading back under
the passengers side hood & firewall...Their was black duck tape on them too....Hand written on the metal box was 85GN with 87 drivetrain....

HELP!! Anyone

todd ,I went outside and took pictures I can e-mail them to you. Can I call you at that # from your e-mail?

Take out that metal box (ecm) and flip it over. There is a small rectangular cover held on with two small screws. Take the screws out and lift the cover ( I had to pry mine open the first time). The chip is right there. It's rectangular, a little over an inch long, and should have a little RM logo on one side. Just pop that one out and put the new chip in. HTH BTW....Not sure if you still need to disconnect the battery if you unplug the ecm. I'd disconnect the battery just to be safe. By disconnecting the power, your ecm will "re-learn" the new chip.
