dump pipe question (ATR)

This is a question spawned off of my last thread about my cutout, but I'm hoping ot get an answer from someone else with an ATR dump...

I just got their 3" x 14" dump in the mail and installed it yesterday. Great fit and quality look. The thing that's odd though is that to get the flange to fit correctly with the flange on my exhaust (same flange since that is an ATR exhaust) the dump part is aimed IN towards the middle of the car, rather than out to the side. Since the flanges are not symetrical, i.e you can't rotate it 180 degrees and have it still fit, it only fits right one way. I originally tried to fit it with the dump pointing out, thinking logically, but then I wondered why it wasn't lining up right with the exhaust pipe flange. That's when I noticed it's not quite symetrical.
Did I get one that they cut into the wrong side for the dump? Am I likely to do any damage with it aimed that way? It does rattle the car like none other, but it may be just as bad with it pointed out.

The flange should be symmetrical and the dump should point out. Make sure the cat hanger isn't interfering making you think the flange pattern isn't symmetrical.

The cat hanger wasn't fooling me since I was looking at the flange on the dumo pipe mostly, and that's on the exhaust flange.
I have ATR's straight pipe off the car now since I got the dump and I think that's the same way... I'll look it over very closely when I get home.

OK, it is DEFINITELY not symetrical.

Go to my pictures site and click on it to enlarge. You'll see that I traced the outline of the flange and the location of the hole... nothing would fit right if I turned it upsidedown and had the dump aiming out to the passenger side.

Yes, that's crazy.

Call ATR. The dump should be pointing towards the OUTSIDE of the car.

Well, I called them and they admitted that was really wrong for it to be pointing in. The lady on the phone was very nice and apologetic and is sending me out a correct (hopefully!) one.

Ok, I may have to take that last post back. After not getting my new pipe for a week, the short story is, I called back and was told first that all I have to do is flip it, and it doesn't matter if the flange doesn't match up properly with the one it is getting attached to (that's high quality engineerin'!)
It just baffles me that a company would TAKE BACK their word on mailing me a CORRECT part after blatantly welding the thing completely wrong and admitting to it. Never again will I do business with ATR.
It's little consolation to me, but they offered that I could ship it back (oh could I please pay the $10 fee so UPS will pick up my wrong part at my house!) for a full refund... but I don't want a refund, I want a correct part.

This seems to be a growing trend with ATR --- Piss poor customer service. They told me that if I bought a new cam while they examined my old cam, they would give me a credit if the manufacter replaced the bad cam. Well when the replacement cam came in guess what? Not only will they not take it back, the HBIC Sherrie won't even get on the phone and tell me herself. If They offered a refund I would snatch it up in a heartbeat, but I would get it in writing or send it back to them COD.
