Ebay selling costs question

If you start something at .99, with no gallery picture and all your own pictures/html, yes you can list something for $.25
They will still take a cut from the sale price and paypal, though.
Cars are fixed $20 to list, another $20 at sale plus the nickel/dime stuff.

On average for something I list that sells for a final price of about $50, ebay ends up getting about $4 and some change. Thats with a gallery pic, and using their 1 free pic and then I list links to other pics if I have them.
And starting price at $9.99 the max you can have without paying extra, and also paying extra for a 10-day auction..the longer its up the more visibility it will have. If paid by PAypal, they get about $2-$3 as well, so overall its about 10-12% of final price.
You could list it with just bare bones features and only take money orders, but I've discovered that some of the features and taking paypal are well worth it...be surprised how many folks don't even bother if no paypal is accepted....I also blow right past entries that have no gallery pic most of the time.

The Trick to selling multiple items on E-bay... I shouldn't tell you this because they will probably crack down on this sometime is...
You have your own website, with all your pictures and such and you have a page on which you are listing the same thing for sale with what would be your "buy it now" price (don't use the E-bay buy it now). You link to this page (through a couple other pages, because a direct link will get you pulled) from your ebay ad.
This will sell double or triple off of Ebay for what it sells on E-bay reducing their cut and maximizing your profit.
E-bay is great cheap advertisement so it's better to keep items up as long as possible (ie don't use "buy it now"), but to avoid losing sales and maximize profits, its best to direct people away from E-bay and onto your own web site to make the sales.

I sell on ebay sometimes and I just sold a 2002 Suzuki RM 125 motocross bike from there.(advertisment wise)
All I do is include my e mail addy and phone number. After the auction ends I get 2-3 calls and 5-6 e mails wanting the item.
Had a TTA that I almost sold after the auction , but I lived in FL at the time. When I moved , it sold instantly.

Used to be that way. They REALLY jacked up the cost. Cars are a buyers dream on ebay. Only the really hot stuff gets any kind of money. Basic cars and trucks can be had for cheap. I do not recommend selling cars on ebay. They just dont seem to get the $$$

I've sold 1 car off E-bay. Basically I used my Power Wheels CD strategy of directing people to my web site with more info (and the same ad I had on E-bay but with more pictures and my buy it now price).
The E-bay bidding went $300 over my buy it now price on my web site, leading me to believe there are a lot of .... stup... moro... how should I put this... Great People! using E-bay.
I was just thinking of selling some piddly stuff like some DVDs and I was weighing wheter or not it would be worth it to try my idea....I dont think its worth it
My idea was to start an auction for a video(maybe them actually getting to do) of a burnout until the engine exploded in my Rx-7. Obviously I wouldn't let it go unless a profit was to be had, and I dont want to have to pay for the listing if it doesnt go over well)
