Hey guys,
I ran a search for that one thread about the ebay transmissions for the GNs and T-Types.
(ie.No Core Charge 500 HP Item number: 350023797080)
I was wondering where that thread went. The search gave me no results and i couldnt find any topics similar to it. I am trying to find what the outcome was of the tranny and to see if anyone purchased one. The vendor seems to be selling alot of them.

I dont know if this is flaky but check it out.
NO CORE CHARGE
We offer a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty

all this for around 500 bucks?!?!?!

I am in no way putting this person down or disrespecting him/her, but how is this so cheap. If anyone remembers the thread can they recap on it for me. Id hate to be a guinea pig but that price is really somethin. hah

"pay peanuts ya get monkey's" Are you SURE it's a BRF core ??? Core alone is worth $4/500

You know its weird. I can drive a few miles over to anderson performance in baltimore about 30 minutes away and get mine rebuilt for about 1900 installed (approx) this one is 530 shipped and delivered. I can do the install but i am just curious about the quality. Its frustrating to know that it could be the best deal you might ever get, and also to know that it could be the worst.
Anyone got an idea?
He seems to be selling with no negative feedback?

Id love to buy one and just tear into it.

Im not sure its BRF core. Good point.
All it says is Buick Grand National Transmission.

ughhh

I never saw any other threads on this but a friend bought one a month ago. No, it's not a brf valve body. It even had the wrong receptacle so the wiring harness plug won't plug in. Has a 4th gear switch but no 3rd gear switch. They said they had "hydraulically modified" it so it didn't need the ecm for lockup. This consisted of them modifying the tcc solenoid so it would lock on the 1-2 shift and stay locked until it downshifted to first or you shifted to P or N. Naturally the downshift to 1st happens just after you stop the car so it would stall at every stop after making a 1-2 shift. My friend emailed back and forth and called them, but I did not personally talk with them. That said, my opinion is that they don't know what they are doing and cannot possibly have any satisfied customers with the lockup the way the do it. On my suggestion the shop that installed it for him pulled the receptacle and switch/solenoid wiring harness from his old brf trans, put it and a new tcc solenoid in the trans with the 3rd and 4th gear wires tied together to the one switch in the trans. That way it is at least driveable. At light throttle it already flares on the 2-3 and kind of slides into the 1-2, it short shifts horribly, lord knows how far off the speedo drive gear is, etc. It lets my friend putt around so he can move the car but I told him that the number of real wot shifts he could get he could probably count on one or two hands. Definitely a case of getting what you paid for.

there really is no way to build a "500 hp" capable 200-4r for 500$. Decent clutches/bands/ bearings bushings and a shift kit are close to that alone. Much less a pump that is clearanced properly. On top of that i recommend a billet forward drum to everybody even if its an almost stock high 12 second car, which is $400-$600 alone.

Thats what pisses me off, its almost like going to china-town and buying a transmission. That sucker wil lie his a$$ off trying to sell you, then you go home only to realize that you've been had. Deadbeat ebay sellers suck

It will say BRF on the tag they painted over  Only thing I can say is stay with someone you know in the Buick world ... Lot's of "feed back" on tranny's here

$1695+$175 = $1870 with shipping is not worth it at all. You can have billet unit built by real TurboBuick guys for that price if you supply the core.

try it 500 bucks aint much if it doesnt work trash it and get ya a 2000 dollar one or build ya a 600 dollar turbo 400 and dont worry about it anymore :)

All i have to say is O BROTHER.

Cant beleive people think that ebay is magical and has good 500HP capable BRF trans for $500.

As stated, the damn core is worth almost that much.

PSSST. Heres a secret I and many other people have found out in life...

ready.... shhhh... dont tell anyone else.... what i am sharing is top secret.......

I agree!!!

If its such a good deal, then buy it, beat the hell out of it, and return it. When the CO. does not honor the warranty, I will point and laugh, when the trans comes to the door looking other than what the picture shows...I will point and laugh.

Support a vendor, and they will support you...plain and simple. I run a Len Freeman transmission, and have never had a problem, oh wait I did, and he drove 150 miles to come get it from me. Doubt an ebay seller will do that for you, like stated above from other responses, you get what you pay for.

Why is it that Buick owners can be so cheep? Dont get me wrong, we all love great deals, but when someone here on the board offers a "new" part in a "never" opened box we always low ball the sh!t from the seller. For example, someone can be selling a new turbo for 1200.00 and somebody will offer 500.00 for it  come one now...And if you dont believe me, look under the parts for sale section.

Sorry, I had to vent also :).
