bid on a typhoon on ebay. iwas the highest bidder 1 hour be4 end of auction at $3550. cool truck needed work. transmission, right rear quarter was hit from owners plow truck guy and missing cladding over drivers front wheel. i enjoy turning wrenches, making something really nice from something not so nice. that gives me pride and happiness when i'm cruising down the road.1 hour to go bidding goes upto the max that i had put in ,4,000. i UP MY MAX TO 4200. JUST IN CASE. i really wanted this black truck(my we4 needed company). seconds be4 bidding ends bam i lost the bid . winning bid--4250. i am very disappointed but hey thats life. bidding ended at 5:17 p.m. 10:04 that same night ebay email. 2nd chance offer. i jump at the chance but have to pay my max bid at 4200. i want the truck , i think its worth it. i reply to the seller and ebay I WANT IT. seller emails me back with neede info thats needed for ebay transaction to go through. i email seller that i would like to come and look at vehicle. truck is only 65 miles away. seller says nothing. email from ebay. seller has moved to florida. was in new york. seller will pay for shipping . i'm sorry anything that i have bought offthe internet(used items) i have picked up and paid on the spot. thats how i do business. i am not going to pay that kind of money 4 something without seeing it. oh ebay insures that you are protected can get a refund. if when i received the truck it was not what it was advertised, ican get a refund. after i pay to ship truck back to seller who lives in miami, florida.what would that cost me. probably atleast 2 weeks pay. i work too hard for that bullcrap. throughout the entire bidding period(7 days) the item location was listed as yorktown heights, n.y. . i declined the sale. what would you have done?

You did the right thing. There are 2nd Chance Offers (fake) that are scamming buyers out of $$$.

Best thing to do is contact the seller by phone to verify it's his offer and not a scammer...

Good move I have gotten several "second chance" offers. I've emailed the seller only to be told me they never sent me a second chance offer

Scam!

I'll guarantee you it was a scam. They probably wanted you to pay with a Western Union money wire also. It happens all the time. Be very cautious anytime you receive a second chance offer ......... especially if you are the 3rd, 4th or 5th runner-up bidder and your bid is substantially lower than the high bid or "Buy It Now" price. Be thankful your money is still in your pocket and not in the crook's!

Ask Someone to View It

It maybe worth asking one of the FL boys in Miami to view it for you. There's plenty of us good guys down here. I'm 2 hours north of Miami, but there's a ton of guys in Lauderdale/Miami area if still interested in the truck and it's still around and legit... Get the guys Tel # and speak to him.. If he doesn't want to give up the tel #....SCAM SCAM SCAM.

I did that to a guy who was in Scotland and had an AMX for sale, which would be shipped over here. It was a hell of a deal, and I eventually told him I would be in Scotland on business in a week and would like to see it... Suddenly (Of course), all communication stopped.. I got a chuckle out of it.. :D

2nd chance offer

I received an email about 2nd chance offers from ebay and they say that if the offer shows up in MY MESSAGES in MY EBAY then it is real and if it just shows up in your personal email , then beware.

hey thanks for the help guys. it really pisses me off when someone tries to run a scam and take someones money. i told the seller to call me but he says we have to go through ebay. the ebay emails that i have been receiving show up only in my personal mail. sellers name is alexander begrios. email address is rois42alex@aol.com. his adddress is 775 e 5th street, 3rd floor miami, florida 33131. if there is anyone who lives near there and can check it out that would be great. thank you. this really has me upset.

scam

I just sold a Range Rover ebay and the winning bidder said he has been emailed 7 different times in three days from other people saying they are me. How is that for scamming  I told him not to pay anything until he arrives to pick it up in person.

Another will come along. You did the right thing.
