Im sick of having to light both bulbs so i can use the vacum at a idle to set the brakes and then build boost. I got a electric vacum pump im going to run off a 85 caddy and wanted to know if anyone else has this setup. I should be able to light the first bulb now and build some boost and then bump the 2nd bulb on now:) Maybe now i can cut some lights but im not going to hold my breath;)

Gene, Im curious how well it works......I ve also thought about using a belt driven vacuum pump............just so you always have instant power brakes........a tad safer on the street if your on it when you shouldn t be.......

They put belt driven pumps on some of the Caddy. I was hoping i could take this one apart and try to up the vacum to get it to hold more boost;)

I use to use one on a camaro i had sice the motor had no vacuum and it worked great for that

it was a while back now..I done forgot how much vacuum it held but it was plenty for the maro to stop with

Vac boost?

I think STAINLESS Brakes sells a pump for that exact application. BIG cammed engines w/ no vac. Saw the ad in GMHT, I think. Maybe Chevy HP.
 :D :D

I'll stick with my ol manuals.
Other then the pedal breaking or fluid leak nothing to go wrong.

Ive seen some of the pumps that they offer but they were big bucks:eek: Im going to try this pump and see what it does:)
For the $50.00 i paid for it i wont be out much:cool: Can you hold 20# with a manual brake?

Thats cheating:D
I hold 20# with the brake and my face looks like this:mad:

GENO i use the Crane Cams Vacuum Reserve can and have no issues with redlights or not having brakes under a boost situation, the can was in the high 40's and comes in a nice silver finish :)

although i dont hold 20# on the line either....

Geno, I remeber the red face! I always worried about the seat breaking.....I d push so hard that my body would shift in the seat and I d thinking that the back of the seat would fail.....now that would be funny.....if you didn t have the roll bad cross bar behiind ya......probably tear the steering wheel off just trying to hold on....

local speed shop S/K Speed crane cams makes a can also but it's either yellow or green, i opted for the silver one :)

mine is the comp not the crane sorry for the confusion ( i always mix the two up) but comp is the only one making a silve can and no the sticker doesnt come on it.

also mounted it in between the booster and washer fluid area perfect space and zip tied it on making sure not to make any holes
