I need some educated help. I will describe the problem and include any details that might have any possible connection with the problem. Years ago I added a fuse block for aftermarket accessories that used the same blade type fuses that are stock on these cars. I connected this additional block thru a 12 gauge wire to one of the slots of the fuse block labeled IGN 1. I have my scanmaster, alky control and radar detector powered thru this block all on separate fuses with no problem. Getting ready for Bowling Green I decided to add the electric exhaust cut off from Mark Hueffman. I ran the power to the added on fuse block with a 20 amp fuse. Before trying the cut out I used my voltmeter to confirm power to the switch for the cut out and it read 11.72 volts. Tried the cut out and the switch failed to work. Typical for me! Anyway, the first thing I noticed was that I lost power to the alky unit and the scanmaster. No fuses are blown! Any ideas? All the IGN 1 slots on the original fuse block are dead (and yes the ignition switch is on). Any thoughts are hugely appreciated. Fusible link? Again no fuses are blown. Never saw any smoke either (only positive thing about this development). When am I going to learn to leave well enough alone? Thanks for the help.

I would check fusible link down by the starter. I think you are on the right track. You've probably exceeded the amp rating of the circuit. I think there are 3 IGN taps. Try using one for each add-on. That way you don't exceed the capacity of any single wire and start a fire.

John,

I don't have any issue with your thoughts but why didn't any of the circuit fuses blow first? Also, how much amperage does the alky controller and the scanmaster demand? Any ideas what other circuits would be on that same fusible link to confirm that it is indeed dead? Thanks again for the help.

When I added an extra fuse block, I used a relay to power it & picked up power from the alternator through a circuit breaker.
