I recently had a short in my wiring. It caused the ignition to lose all power as well as the entire dash and cigarette lighter too. I still had interior lights and headlights and such though.

Turned out to be a wire that got pulled too much when we were messing with my tranny. It was running from the starter in a cluster of 3 to my ignition. One powered the interior and headlights, one to ignition and can't remember what the other did. So I fixed the broken part of the wire and got the car started after 5 hours of laboring in cramped positions.

Now, after tightening the wires on the starter again, and then priming the fuel pump, I tried to start it and had it blow ALL POWER completely! It was 1am when I finished so I haven't looked to see what's wrong yet. What wires would cause me to lose ALL power? The black one from the battery to the starter and what other one? Any ideas at all??

Okay, I found a place that metal was touching metal and fixed it.... for a while, then it blew out the power again, I replaced the fuse and was fine for a while.

It keeps happening, usually when I have the car in reverse. The reverse lights don't go on when the ignition power goes out... maybe the reverse switch? it's electrical...
