Just wondering if any of you guys are familair w/ the differences between a 3.8 and a 3.1? Both are out of a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix. The car is a 98 Grand Prix w/ a 3.1 The engine/transmission I am putting in are also out of a 98 Grand Prix, I have the wiring harness and PCM.

I have questions about the Fuel Lines, AC Lines, Motor Mounts, CV Shafts. As these are the things I noticed are different right off the bat. If anyone has any knowledge/experience w/ these two motors please let me know.

I know the 3.1 is a 60 degree v6 block, and the 3.8 is a 90 degree v6. the only differance here is in hi-HP application the 60 degree v6 is harsher on the crank journal due to the angle of the connect rods, when compare to the 90 degree v6.

you 3.8 swap will be a ease. it will work. you will have to up-grade the fuel pump to a 3.8 pump. all the a/c line you will need from the 3.8 car, also the halfshaft, and you might as well swap in the front brake if different from the 3.1 car.

thanks for the info. I will post when everything is up and running.
