Hey guys,
I bought my 87 GN almost two years ago for $1100.00.The trouble is the engine is bad. When I drove it up on the trailer to bring it home, not only did I smoke up the entire neighborhood,The engine sounded like I was shaking a huge can of marbles! Now I have the time to fix it and was wondering what direction to take it?From what I can guess, the turbo is shot, hence the smoke. The kid I bought it from said the motor was just redone and lasted 2 months before he started hearing the death rattle. He also informed me the motor was bored .060 over.I'm guessing the block is not saveable being bored that far.If it is #'s matching I thought about sleeving the block. If not, what options do I have? There also is alot of mickey mouse **** going on under the hood.Hoses plugged with bolts and clamped, missing stuff,etc,etc,etc...What the car has going for it is the interior is an 8 out of 10.And I bought the car cheap!!I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.I need to locate a reputable shop in my area to do the machine work on the block.I know that machine work is critical on these motors to make them live.Any input would be appreciated at this point. Thanks guys!
