Exhaust Manifold Questions

I have an 86 GN and was wondering if anyone has had success bolting the exhaust manifolds directly to the heads without gaskets... I have machined the manifolds... Thank you for your help...

We were running like that with no problems, not street driving, just on the track. No leaks that could be heard. This is something I am curious about as well, bought a set of felpro's to put on, but would like more info if anybody has any.

dont they come from the factory without gaskets?

i guess if you take them off just have them resurfaced

I did it with my previous GN with no trouble at all. I used orange RTV between the heads and header flange... and between the crossover pipe where it connects to the headers. It sealed-up tight as a frogs ass.

My current car has copper gaskets on it... and when they finally decide to leak, they will be removed in favor of some orange RTV.
